Nowadays, Barbie Imperial is one of the most talked-about leading ladies in the Kapamilya network. The former “Pinoy Big Brother” alumni received her first break after being paired with JM de Guzman for the on-screen adaptation of “Araw Gabi.”
When auditions for the role of the main character Michelle was announced, many aspiring hopefuls flocked the Kapamilya studio. However, Director Ruel Bayani only had his eyes at Barbie Imperial. Choosing her as the main lead was a risky move because she’s only nineteen years old at that time.

During a press conference for the upcoming soap opera, Barbie shared her preparations for her role:
“Pero ngayon po, pinagbubutihan ko po talaga, inaayos ko po talaga, nagwo-workshop ako, lahat, para dumating po yung time na maging ganun po, na mapunta ako sa ganung level.”
“Araw Gabi” is her first big break since she was often casted as a girl-next-door in her past projects. Since she’s young and still quite new at the industry, some people are questioning if Barbie can give justice to the challenging role. Is she finally ready to take on mature roles?
To answer this, Barbie claimed that she’s comfortable with a mature role since the people on the set, especially Direk Bayani, is very respectful of her personal space:
“I mean, sa amin sa taping, wala naman pong problema. Tulad nang na-promise sa akin nina Direk na sexy siya pero pag ginagawa namin ang mga eksena, may limit po ang mga tao. Okay po ako dun kasi hindi po ako nababastos.”
This most-awaited “Precious Hearts Romance” adaptation is set to air this Monday, April 30. Some of the big stars to watch out for are Ara Mina, Raymond Bagatsing, Vina Morales, Jane Oineza, RK Bagatsing, Phoebe Walker, Ysabel Ortega, and Paolo Angeles.
