Basketball star Chris Tiu recently shared that he felt “a little bit sentimental” during the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections last Monday, as indicated in his social media post.
The professional basketball player shared on his Instagram account that it was his first time voting not as a candidate as but as regular voter.
“Feeling a little bit sentimental because this is the first time I’m voting in a barangay election where I am not a candidate.”
“It just dawned on me that it’s been 17 years since I’ve been serving in my barangay, first as SK chairman in 2001 and three terms as barangay kagawad.”
He added that he is grateful for all the opportunities that his experiences as a public servant have given him.

“Grateful for all the learning experiences and opportunities to serve! Met so many amazing individuals as well that give me hope for our country. God bless the Philippines.”
Nonetheless, some netizens can’t help but criticize the basketball player, saying that his stint as a politician was useless since he’s been busy with his career outside politics.
Chris Tiu is popularly known as a professional and national athlete. He just recently revealed that he also served for almost 17 years as a SK chairman and a Barangay Kagawad.
