An Arab patient struck a Filipino nurse in a hospital Madinah City, Saudi Arabia on Thursday night, May 17. Based on the report of GMA News, the victim identified as Rolando Mina is an emergency room nurse in the hospital. He received four punctures in both of his arms.
Looking on the CCTV footage, the Arab suspect approached Mina and suddenly punctured him with a sharp object.
In an interview with GMA News, Mina said he was preoccupied with his job. Furthermore, that’s why he did not notice that the man is already approaching him. He narrated the incident saying,
“Nung una po ay hindi ako naka react, akala ko ay sinusuntok lang ako kaya sinasalag ko po. Hindi ko alam na may hawak na siyang patalim that time. Hindi ko po nararamdaman ang mga saksak niya sa akin. Kasi parang manipis po ang ginamit niyang panaksak.”

According to Mina, he received three puncture wounds in his left arm and one on his right. A great thanks to his colleagues who immediately responded to help him and seized the patient!
Mina was certain that his attack was due to his refusal to give medicinal substances to the patient. Consequently, this triggered the patient to enact revenge on him.

Mina explains that giving medicinal substances without doctor’s prescription is a big no in their hospital.
Philippine Consul General in Jeddah Edgar Badajos confirms Mina is safe now. And is currently recovering in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The suspect is now under investigation in a correctional facility.
Badajos clarified Mina’s mishap is an isolated case. Most noteworthy, this was the first time that they received such report.
