Senator Sherwin Gatchalian should probably stay away from Twitter as often as he could, since his tweets keep on receiving backlash.
Recently, Gatchalian tried to defend the President’s action in South Korea by saying that the kiss is nothing but “professional”. The now deleted tweet read:
“I would like to compare this sa mga artista dahil may mga artista na may asawa but they also have kissing scenes… So I think as long as it’s kept professional and there’s an understanding within the partners then siguro pwede nilang gawin yun.”

Needless to say, most of the social media users beg to disagree, including actor Dingdong Dantes.
When commissioner Percival V. Cendaña tweeted that he couldn’t fathom how the infamous kiss was “done in a professional way”, Dingdong replied by saying that as an actor, they portray a certain role. A role that they can say no to if they wish. But one must keep in mind that an actor’s job is very much different from a government official’s duty.

“As actors, we are accountable to our viewers, our producers and the manner of delivering the story. Aba’y ibang usapan yan kapag public official ka. Kaya’t huwag dapat ihambing gamit ang ganiyang argumento.”
There are some netizens who criticized the actor for “meddling” in a political issue, but were of the same mind as the actor. Read some of their comments below.
