Kapamilya actress Kim Chui was at the center of a controversial issue last week. This was after celebrity designer John Herrera took to Facebook on June 6. Expressing his disappointment toward the actress’s camp. As reported, Herrera made a gown for Kim who is one of the hosts of Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) Awards.
However, when he instructed his assistants to deliver the creation to Kim’s house, his helpers reported that they failed to enter the actress’s subdivision. The guards asked Kim Chui’s staff to leave the unfinished gown by the guardhouse. The designer refused and instructed his staff to return the gown.

Based on the report from PEP, FAMAS officials told the designer that “the actress will only wear it [the gown] creation if she wants to.”
For this reason, the insulted fashion designer decided to withdraw from the commitment. He then planned to sell the gown to “others who would value it.”

In an interview with PEP, Kim Chui’s stylist for three years Patty Yap made a clarification regarding the misunderstanding with Herrera’s party. He said that Kim Chui and her camp have no issues with regards to his creation. As a matter of fact, the actress ” is totally unaware” of the issue. And she was expecting a gown from the designer.
She then defended the actress’s camp saying:
“First of all, as mentioned, I did not commission him for this project. I believe he had arrangements with FAMAS about providing gowns and suits for the FAMAS hosts.”
“Secondly, it was absolutely okay with Kim to wear his creation, but it was John who backed out, as mentioned on his last message.
“Lastly, I believe the miscommunication was with FAMAS and not with Kim’s camp as he was coordinating everything with them, including the fitting schedule, as mentioned by him and the FAMAS representative.

Under those circumstances, Yap pointed out that “never once did Kim exhibit any negative attitude. As to what to wear or not during an event.”
However, she admitted that she understands Hernandez’s grievances and she has a lot respect for the fashion designer. All in all, she hopes that this issue would get resolved.
