“I am confidently beautiful with a heart,” this was the remarkable line by Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach as she won the most prestigious pageant in 2015. Her victory became controversial after host Steve Harvey mistakenly crowned Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez first. This shocking ending of the pageant was televised live in many countries, Steve immediately apologized and took the responsibility of his mistake.
Recently, Pia uploaded a photo of her in Instagram, with the story of her journey in getting the crown. Many of her fans were inspired upon reading Queen Pia’s post. It turns out that her story is no different from anyone who experiences defeat and eventually manages to reach their goal.

The beauty queen said that she auditioned for television roles before but was rejected for her looks. It was either that or Pia was considered to be too tall to be paired with an actor. Upon realizing that her true calling was with beauty pageants, she joined Binibining Pilipinas in 2013. Unfortunately, she was only hailed as the first-runner up. It was during her comeback last 2014, that she only got to the Top 15.
After all these, Pia Wurtzbach stayed positive and was determined to achieve her dream. So, when she had the chance, she worked hard day and night to make her body and mind ready for the pageant. She also managed to do her own make-up, styled her hair, and picked the color of her gown during the Miss Universe coronation night.

Pia won the hearts of many as she changed the way we perceived of beauty queens. She stayed humble and was not scared to show her funny side. She also stayed friendly, intelligent, and was confidently beautiful with a heart. Pia brought pride to the country’s culture as she portrayed qualities of us Filipino to other countries, such as respectful, warm, hospitable and hardworking.
She is also an advocate of HIV/AIDS awareness and is also fighting against cyberbullying. People from different countries loved her, she was also invited to conduct inspirational talks for students, abused women, fellow beauty queens and many more.
