Alden Richards posts cryptic message on Twitter

Even before airing its pilot episode, plenty of online users have expressed that they will “boycott” Alden Richards’ new GMA-7 series, “Victor Magtanggol,” due to its alleged similarities to Norse mythology. Apart from this, people claim that Alden’s superhero role certainly is a “copycat” of Thor’s. Given the massive popularity of the Marvel character, we can’t blame the fans for reacting in such a way.

This, perhaps, is also the reason why the new show failed to get ahead of “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” ratings, the long-running action-filled series from the rival network giant. Kantar media and other comprehensive monitoring services provided each of the primetime block’s ratings, and “Probinsyano” still prevailed.

Alden himself shared in an interview that they anticipated the public’s remarks about his show.

“We kind of expected that people would immediately compare the series to the blockbuster film, but Victor Magtanggol is not a cheap Thorcopycat. People can take my word for it because we are confident that we’ve crafted something good for TV.”

Nevertheless, despite the controversy, plenty of supporters still showed admiration to “Victor Magtanggol,” especially to its visually-pleasing structure.

Alden also mentioned that the series aims to show the struggles of our modern day heroes, or the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). His character, after all, plays the role of a son longing for the love and presence of his mother (portrayed by Coney Reyes) who works abroad.

Meanwhile, Alden just recently posted a cryptic tweet. He said, “Slowly…” along with a finger emoji pointing up and a laughing emoticon. An obvious supporter then responded to the actor’s post and said:
